IMSS Program
The School of Instrumental Music (IMSS) program is a free program offered to government schools providing instrumental tuition to selected students in Years 5 and 6. At Landsdale Primary School, instruments offered include classical guitar, clarinet, and trumpet. Students are chosen for the program in Term 3 of Year 4 by completing a standardised music aptitude test. Students are also selected based on their achievements in music lessons, attitude, and behaviour at school. Selected students are decided by Ms. Rogerson, in collaboration with classroom teachers.
Students are expected to attend all lessons throughout the year, unless a parent has informed either their instrumental teacher or classroom music teacher. Students are also required to attend performances and workshops organised by SIM or Landsdale PS. Students learning clarinet and trumpet are also expected to participate in the Ashdale Cluster Band held at Ashdale Secondary College from mid year 5.

Students in year 5 learning clarinet or trumpet are loaned an instrument from IMSS for a $110 fee. Students learning guitar in Year 5 are expected to provide their own instrument. All students learning an instrument in Year 6 are required to provide their own instrument. Instruments can be purchased or rented. See below for some useful websites.
